Magoffin Scheduled and Actual Release
A projected date is a calculation based on the sentence information and credits known at a given time. The actual release is the physical custody event after staff complete the required checks and process any holds. Kentucky records use several date labels. They should not be collapsed into one answer.
KOOL's advanced form has a “Projected Release Date From/To” search range. A person's detail can instead label the calculated date “Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date (Good Time Release Date).” The same record may separately show parole eligibility, maximum expiration, expected time to serve, and a proposed parole date. Parole eligibility means the person may be considered under the applicable rules. It is not a release order.
Scheduled versus actual: A displayed calculation estimates a legal sentence point. Confirm the later custody event with KDOC or the jail holding the person.
| Date label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Projected Release Date range | A KOOL search filter for projected dates |
| Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date | The person-detail good-time calculation |
| Parole Eligibility Date | A point when review may become available |
| Proposed Release Date | A parole-table field that still needs processing |
| Maximum Expiration | The sentence endpoint shown under the governing calculation |
Magoffin Release Date by Custody
The correct source turns on where the sentence is administered. Big Sandy Regional Detention Center holds Magoffin County detainees regionally in Paintsville. Its current JailTracker roster is not a release-date calculator or a former-inmate archive. A pretrial person may leave after bond or a court order, yet there is no fixed projected date while those decisions remain unresolved.
A person serving a state sentence belongs in KDOC's record system even if housed for a time in a county jail. KOOL may display sentence and good-time fields. A short county-only sentence requires the judgment and BSRDC's own release calculation. No separate public BSRDC good-time schedule was verified for every county sentence. Federal and immigration custody use separate systems and cannot be dated from KOOL.
| Situation | Primary date source | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial BSRDC detainee | Magoffin court and BSRDC | No fixed date while bond and court action control |
| County-only sentence | Judgment and BSRDC calculation | Do not apply KDOC credits without confirmation |
| Kentucky state sentence | KOOL and KDOC sentence records | Displayed dates can change |
| Federal sentence | BOP locator and federal records | KOOL does not control the calculation |
Find Magoffin Projected Release Dates
Start with identity and custody, not a date copied from a secondary source. The Kentucky Offender Online Lookup supports name and alias fields, PID and DOC numbers, status, location, supervision, conviction county, offense data, and projected-date ranges. Search broadly, then compare several identifiers before relying on a record.
- Confirm whether the person is pretrial, serving a local sentence, or under a KDOC sentence.
- For a state case, search KOOL by name and narrow with age, conviction county, or identifier.
- Open the detail and copy the exact label beside each relevant date.
- Record the retrieval date, current status, location, PID or DOC number, and sentence details.
- For a BSRDC sentence, obtain the judgment and ask the jail for its existing release calculation.
- Confirm the operative calculation with KDOC or BSRDC before arranging plans around it.
KOOL's gateway says entries and improvements occur daily, while its help material says public data refreshes four times a day. Recent information can still be revised. For older records or details not shown, KDOC points to Offender Information Services, P.O. Box 2400, Frankfort, KY 40602-2400. The Magoffin County release-record overview covers the separate process for proving an actual custody departure.
A KOOL location naming a probation or parole office normally indicates community supervision, not confinement in that office. Likewise, a “County of Supervision: Magoffin” filter does not establish a BSRDC booking. If a short local detention never entered KDOC's population, KOOL may return nothing. In that case, move to BSRDC and the Magoffin court record instead of concluding that no custody or sentence existed.
Magoffin Release Credit Framework
KRS 197.045 supplies the main Kentucky sentence-credit framework. It incorporates applicable prior-confinement credit and permits specified education and program credits. Qualifying approved diploma, degree, technical, treatment, evidence-based, promising-practice, or life-skills achievements may affect the calculation under the statute. Good-behavior credit may also be awarded within the statutory limit, and separate meritorious or emergency provisions apply in their stated circumstances.
Credits are not a simple promise of release. Offense, sentence structure, time already served, program approval and completion, disciplinary history, forfeiture, and statutory exclusions all matter. KDOC can forfeit earned credit or deny future credit for institutional misconduct. Consecutive sentences are aggregated for expiration and credit calculations. Some sexual-offense provisions impose added limits tied to treatment and eligibility.
For a qualified state felon housed in a county jail, 501 KAR 2:060 connects statutory, educational, meritorious, and approved-program credits to KRS 197.045 and corrections policy.
The regulation applies to qualifying state felons in county custody. It does not establish a blanket good-time formula for every Magoffin County misdemeanor or BSRDC booking.
Note: Never subtract headline credit amounts from a sentence without the agency's current calculation and the governing offense and sentence details.
Magoffin Violent-Offender Release Rules
Kentucky's violent-offender statute adds a major limit, but it does not apply to every felony. Under the current text of KRS 439.3401, effective July 15, 2026, a violent offender with a term-of-years sentence generally cannot receive probation, shock probation, parole, conditional discharge, or another early release until at least 85 percent has been served. The definition, offense date, exceptions, applicability clauses, and credit restrictions control. Specified life or capital cases use a different threshold.
The safe approach is to confirm first that the statute classifies the offense and sentence as covered. Saying all Kentucky felonies require 85 percent would be wrong. A court judgment, conviction statute, offense date, and KDOC calculation are needed to apply the rule to one Magoffin County case.
Statutory effective dates matter as well. A current web page may describe rules that apply differently based on when the offense or sentence arose. Preserve the statute version consulted and ask KDOC which provision controls its displayed calculation. This is especially important when an older estimate and a newly retrieved KOOL date do not match.
Magoffin Parole Eligibility Dates
Parole eligibility is another calculation, separate from good-time expiration. Under 501 KAR 1:030, the general table for many qualifying felony sentences uses different points based on sentence length. Persistent-felony-offender rules, offense dates, violent-offense limits, mandatory minimums, and exclusions can override the general table. The Parole Board can deny or defer release after eligibility.
The official regulation capture below documents the parole-eligibility framework used with Kentucky sentence records.
Read that framework beside the KOOL Parole Information table. A hearing date, next eligibility date, or proposed date does not prove that BSRDC or a state institution has physically released the person.
Why Magoffin Release Dates Change
A calculation can move after the first lookup because new records alter the inputs or a later legal decision changes the path. Preserve the field label and retrieval date. That small step makes it possible to distinguish a data correction from a new sentence event.
| Changing factor | Possible effect | Where to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Prior-custody credit | Changes time credited toward the sentence | Court judgment and KDOC |
| Consecutive sentence aggregation | Combines terms for expiration calculations | KDOC sentence record |
| Program or education credit | May reduce the calculation when approved | KDOC |
| Disciplinary forfeiture | May remove earned credit or limit future credit | KDOC disciplinary and sentence records |
| Parole action | Can grant, deny, or defer a proposed path | KOOL and Parole Board record |
| Detainer or hold | May block community release or cause transfer | Holding and receiving agencies |
| Court correction or new order | Can revise the sentence authority | Magoffin Circuit Court Clerk |
A transfer must not be described as community release. Someone leaving BSRDC for KDOC, another county, federal authority, or another agency has left the roster but remains in custody. Follow the receiving system before using the word released.
Data corrections can also change a display without changing the sentence itself. A corrected birth date, identity match, conviction entry, or institutional location may cause a different record to appear in search results. Compare the PID or DOC number, not just the person's name. For common names or aliases, check the conviction county, offense, age, and other identifiers before copying any projected date.
Magoffin Court and Jail Calculations
For a short BSRDC sentence, request the final judgment and the jail's release calculation. The Magoffin Circuit Court Clerk can supply public court documents through the Court of Justice process. BSRDC can identify the custody record it holds, including movement and actual departure fields where available. A court order can authorize release before staff complete the physical exit, so both times may matter.
BSRDC is at 904 3rd Street, Paintsville, KY 41240, and its published number is 606-297-5245. Administrative hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those are contact hours, not release-processing hours. Call to identify the current records custodian and accepted request method.
Kentucky's public-agency records framework generally requires a written response within five business days after receipt under KRS 61.880(1), subject to its terms. Ask for an existing judgment, sentence computation, custody-event log, or release record. An agency generally need not create a fresh calculation or answer an open-ended question.
A narrow request can ask for the existing document that states the sentence, custody credit, calculated expiration, and later adjustment. If only part can be released, Kentucky law provides for reasonably segregable nonexempt portions. Court records use the Court of Justice access route rather than assuming the executive-branch open-record procedure governs the judiciary in the same way.
Confirm Magoffin Actual Release
After finding a projected date, check the responsible custody source close to that date. For a KDOC prisoner, recheck KOOL and contact corrections with the PID or DOC number. For a person held at BSRDC, call the jail and compare the court order. VINE can report a custody change from participating systems, but an alert may describe a transfer rather than release to the community.
A certified or precise result requires the originating record. Ask BSRDC for its movement or release log, KDOC for state sentence and discharge records, or the court clerk for the order. Keep each source's retrieval date. That sequence separates a projected sentence calculation, parole eligibility, an order authorizing release, and the actual moment the person leaves custody.
